Panic, Problems, and Plans

So what have I been up to?  Well not writing blog posts, obviously.

Everybody Panic!!!

Really though, I haven’t exactly been slacking off these past couple weeks.  As you may recall, one of my goals this year was to present at a SQL Saturday.  To help me towards that goal, I have my very first two presentations coming up in the next 30 days.  They’re on different topics, and originally they were supposed to be scheduled a little farther apart, but things happen and they’re now within 2 weeks of each other.  Well, a week or so ago I was suddenly gripped with a teeny tiny bit of panic that I simply was not prepared.  So most of my spare time has been spent rehearsing and tweaking the first and fleshing out the second.

Problem resolved

Add to that the hours spent troubleshooting my performance problem at work.  That was finally resolved, by the way, through an updated DLL from the application vendor to enable MARS connections.  While I’m glad, in the end, it wasn’t a problem with the database, the masochist in me can’t help being a little disappointed at such a mundane resolution.  Best not look a gift horse in the mouth, though; at least now I can get back to work on other tasks.

Weekend Plans

This weekend I’m heading to Kalamazoo for SQL Saturday #84.  I’m so looking forward to it.  The list of speakers scheduled to present there is amazing.  And given the past few weeks, this will actually feel like a little vacation.

So hopefully I’ll see you in Kalamazoo this weekend.  If not, have a wonderful weekend and wish me luck on presentation #1 next week: “SQL Server Features for Developers.”
